If
it's true, as the old English hymn says, that the devil trembles when
the weakest saint is on his knees, then why aren't we praying more?
We are living in a juncture in time when extraordinary events are occurring. In the heavenlies, we are seeing blood moons. On the earth, we are seeing the earth soaked with the blood of martyrs.
Scholars who delve into the Biblical prophecies of old are issuing warnings of the possibility of events in our near future that will be of such magnitude as to leave the configuration of the earth radically transformed.

Yet we go about our daily lives as though none of these things
matter...as long as our little lives remain unaffected, we remain
unconcerned.
Statistically, more Christians have been persecuted and slain for their faith in recent decades than at any other time in history. In our own nation, founded by godly men upon the tenets of the Bible, subtle encroachments into the rights of believers in Jesus have been made--from removal of prayer and Bible reading in public schools to lawsuits against business owners who put their religious beliefs above man-made laws, we have begun to experience an unraveling of faith-based rights.
Yet we stand by silently...we go about our daily lives as though none of these things matter as long as our little lives remain unaffected.
Of persecution in another time, in another place, it has been observed, "They came for the Jews and I did nothing because I am not a Jew. They came for the Coptic Catholics and I did nothing because I am not a Coptic. Then they came for me, and there was nobody left to do anything."
The most effectual thing that any of us can do is to pray. May we not be on our knees to beseech the Holy One to stay His hand of judgement? May we not pray that He will revive us again and glorify Himself by a Third Great Awakening? May we not employ the scriptural admonition to "...pray without ceasing..."?
Yes, we may! Yes, we MUST!
