The rules of engagement have changed.
Yamomoto understood the impact of an armed American citizenry upon an invading army, so the Japanese did not send an army to invade the U. S. mainland, they attacked Pearl Harbor by air.
Is the strategy of today's enemy another form of stealth invasion? Our president has observed that those who are against unvetted immigration of refugees from nations that hate our religion, our culture, our way of life are fearful of "widows and orphans." Is he right? Are concerns unfounded?
Whatever may be the result of allowing widows and orphans (many of whom
appear to be military-aged men) into our country, we must understand
that the ultimate outcome must be the preservation of our freedom. What
our leaders seem not to grasp, we must see with clarity.
Either these to whom our borders have been open must assimilate into our nation and our culture or they must be constrained from destroying our nation and our culture from within. The ordinary American citizen must stand strong against an entity whose ultimate goal is world domination.
In the spiritual realm, there is another foe whose strategy also seems to change with time and circumstances. Rather than the rifle behind every blade of grass that Yamomoto feared, he saw a Bible behind every blade of grass, for our nation was armed with the truth and power of the Living God.
Most of our people still profess to honor and serve that God, but our lifestyle belies that claim. We are the world's largest purveyor of pornography. We are the world's largest arms supplier. We financially support nations that produce radicalized terrorists who kill Christians.
We allow our neighborhoods to be endangered by the settlement within our communities of people whose earliest teaching is that we are infidels who are worthy of only conversion or death. This would have been unthinkable in the day when Yamomoto saw a rifle behind every blade of grass!
We are no longer armed with an unshakable faith in the Holy One who raised our nation up to "go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15
The enemy's revised strategy seems to be working, but we are still a people who have been admonished by our Lord to be "wise as serpents and harmless as doves." Matthew 10:16
May we not be deceived by the deception that comes against us from every side. No. Rather may we be armed against it by knowing the truth that is secured in the Bible and by knowing the Christ who died to make us free.
