Was, Is, Is to Come
"And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORDGod Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come." Revelation 4:8
I can't imagine the world without me...as long as I've been alive, I've been here, so it seems I belong here. In spite of my perception, however, I know my time here has an 'expiration date.' There will be a day when my life will transcend the bounds of flesh and time and my spirit will return to GOD who fashioned me to be a reflection of Christ.
There is ONE, however, who lives forever. He has no beginning and He
has no end. He is unchanging. As HE HAS BEEN, HE FOREVER SHALL BE.
The LORD took counsel with Himself before the world began and determined that the penalty for the sin of man (who had not yet been created) must be death. HE also planned within that counsel that HE WOULD PAY THE PRICE HIMSELF. HE IS "THE LAMB SLAIN FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE EARTH." Revelation 13:8
Everything about the HOLY ONE is steadfast, sure and unchanging. "There is no shadow of turning" with our GOD. James 1:17 Because HE is forever the same, we may put our complete and utmost confidence in Him.
Our lives may change. Our fortunes may turn. We may become successful and wealthy beyond our dreams or we may lose everything we have and perish; but whatever befalls us in time, we have an eternal assurance that JESUS has "gone to prepare a place for us, that where HE is, we may be also," John 14:3
In that place, we will realize the eternal aspect of our lives that is only a fleeting vapor in the realm of time.
