Follow Me As I Follow Jesus

What does the LORD require of you, of HIS people? As the Apostle Paul stated it, it is to "be followers of me, even as I am a follower of CHRIST." I Corinthians 11:1

Each of us who professes to be a believer in the SAVIOR should be following in HIS footsteps, patterning our life after HIS.

JESUS was just in all HIS dealings with men. HE expected HIS followers to "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and render to GOD the things that are GOD'S." Matthew 22:21 In dealing with human governments and with men, JESUS' disciples were to act with integrity--just as they were to be honorable before GOD.

It was mercy that brought JESUS from the realm of glory into the benighted world of fallen men. His mercy toward broken sinners compelled HIM to give HIMSELF to rescue lost humanity from the quagmire of sin into which humanity had fallen.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful illustrations of the compassion and mercy of the LORD was when the woman taken in adultery was brought before HIM. HE did not condemn her. He challenged her accusers that he who was free from sin should be the one to cast the first stone at her. John 8:7

When none cast a stone, JESUS spoke to her the words only GOD could say, "Your sin is forgiven. Go and sin no more." John 8:11

JESUS was humble. "Though in the form of GOD, HE made HIMSELF of no reputation and humbled HIMSELF as a MAN" and submitted HIMSELF to the cross. Philippians 2:6-11

What does the LORD require of you? Paul said to follow him as he followed JESUS. Following JESUS took Paul to Rome where he was beheaded for preaching the Gospel.

Where will following Christ take you? Are you willing to go?
