Americans were determined to settle the vast land that extended westward from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific.
Native Americans were, of course, enraged by the ever-increasing encroachment upon their lands and the continually-broken treaties in which they were assured certain lands en perpetuity but were removed from them when resources were discovered there or when the insatiable hunger for more land greedily imposed itself upon the "Great White Chief" and his minions.
The tale of the usurpation of Indian lands is one that brings tears of shame and remorse to citizens of this country. Even today, our government will encroach into Native American land if it is deemed advantageous to the progress of the government agenda.
Will we ever honor our Indian brothers with truth, with respect, with the veracity of our word?
