Serial Killer--In Heaven!

When I was young, there was a notorious serial killer on the loose. People speculated as to how he succeeded in killing again and again when there were so many incidents of his evil handiwork in the news. His victims, attractive young women, one would think, would be on guard against such a wicked predator.

He was finally captured, after murdering dozens of victims, and prior to his execution, he was interviewed. One of the questions posed to him was how on earth he succeeded in seducing so many to their deaths when his evil activities were well-publicized. The story he told was, of course, one of using deception.

The horrible deeds were facilitated because he placed an artificial cast on his leg and purported himself to be in need of assistance in carrying a load of books to his car. Each unwitting victim rose to the occasion—extending kindness to the one who would soon take her life. His interview was chilling because it revealed the depth to which a depraved individual would go to ensnare his prey. Something else he shared in the interview that was televised the day before his execution was even more startling.

He said that he had found forgiveness for his sins by accepting Christ as his Savior! I admit to having been stunned at this revelation, to being sure that if I were God, there would be no forgiveness for such a one! But it does affirm the truth that is found in Romans 4:5, “People can do nothing that will make them right with God, so they must trust in Jesus who can make even evil people right in His sight…” One thoroughly wicked person who was cleansed of sin, who you may meet in heaven, is Ted Bundy.
