To Mother

May I extend Happy Mothers' Day wishes to all mothers.  May each of you receive the honor the Bible says is yours on this day that is set aside to commemorate the efforts of mothers to raise honorable men, responsible citizens and godly Christians.

As is quoted in this post today, "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world."  There is no one else who exerts the level of influence over the nation's youth than do the mothers of America.

There are countless good and loving teachers who make every effort to reach out to the students in their charge with the encouragement and the affirmation that they need to set and to reach viable goals in their lives, but their best intentions pale when compared to the influence of our country's mothers.

There are politicians, with their lofty rhetoric and commanding example who sway large segments of our population with their goals for our nation, but they can't begin to approximate the power of the values and beliefs that are instilled within the bosom of our young by our mothers.

On this day, set aside to recognize the immeasurable contribution of the mothers of the nation, may we be mindful to recognize that one woman in each of our lives who placed the stamp of her mind and the power of her heart upon us.

May we reach out to her with genuine respect and unfailing love for the on-going impact of her love and care upon us.  May each of us be aware in the heart of who we are that were it not for her, we could not have arrived where we are in life.

Dear Mother,

Thank you for all you have given.  Thank you for all you have taught.  Thank you for all you have lived before me.  Because of you, I am equipped to hold out your treasure to my children.  Because of you, truth, faith, hope, joy, love will go on for another generation.
