Seven Cultural Mountains

Seven Cultural Mountains

There are seven (7) cultural mountains that profoundly affect our lives; they are the areas that most define our beliefs and values. They are business, government, arts and entertainment, media, education, family and the church.

In which of these are you most deeply involved? Which of these cultural mountains impact you most profoundly?

If you are employed, the mountain of business is one in which you are immersed. The mountain of government also encroaches into your life and into the lives of everyone around you.

If you watch television or go to the movies the mountain of arts and entertainment has virtually engulfed you with its values. Seeds of aversion to Biblical truth were scattered lightly decades ago but are flourishing today. Our social mores are greatly changed because of this scattering.

Our educational system, once world renown for its integrity to the truth and promotion of factual knowledge has become a shadow of itself. Textbook companies are producing propagandized textbooks and school districts are purchasing them. Our students are being taught propaganda rather than facts.

The twin peaks of the family and the church are under what is perhaps the greatest onslaught. Once the rock-solid foundation of our society, these two giants are being worn down by continual erosion. Marriages that end in divorce result in children who are subject to emotional and spiritual trauma. The true church of the Living God still stands as a bulwark against this erosion, but deceived people who are caught up in the propaganda of the day pay little heed to the unchanging word of the God of the Church.

Where do you stand before these mountains? Which of these mountains are you climbing? Which of these mountains are you tunneling through?

To be a viable member of your society, you must be one who accepts the challenge of the mountains and overcomes them.

Be the climber who scales the highest peaks by God's grace.

Be the climber who reaches the top of Everest!
