Infanticide

Spirit-filled Pastor Warns against 'Immoral' California Bill that Would Legalize Infanticide

Shawn A. Akers (Apr 21, 2022)

"...I'm here to speak the truth. I am sad today, and my heart grieves for the state of California. I am sad that it would come to this ... I am sad that we would abandon all common sense. AB 2223 is nothing but nonsense and craziness. It is a new kind of abortion ... We have lost our morality, and as a society, we are sick if we pass this kind of legislation..." -Greg Fairrington, Destiny Christian Church

[CharismaNews.com] The California state legislature is currently debating a bill—AB 2223—that will effectively legalize infanticide by legalizing abortion until as many as 28 days after a baby is born. (Screengrab image)

Many of the state's pastors and ministry leaders are acrimonious about the bill, and they are not standing for it. They, along with over 1,000 others, gathered earlier this week on the steps of the state legislature in Sacramento to speak out against the bill.

California followed the Maryland state house, which was the first earlier this year to introduce such a catastrophic piece of legislation.

Greg Fairrington, senior pastor of Destiny Christian Church in Rocklin, California, says such a bill makes him grieve for his home state.

"I am not here to make friends today. I'm not here to make a political speech. I am here as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ," Fairrington said. "I'm here to speak the truth. I am sad today, and my heart grieves for the state of California. I am sad that it would come to this ... I am sad that we would abandon all common sense. AB 2223 is nothing but nonsense and craziness. It is a new kind of abortion.

"We have lost our morality, and as a society, we are sick if we pass this kind of legislation. The Bible says this: Six things God detests and one of them is the shedding of innocent blood. When you pass legislation like this, do you understand the eternal consequences? Ultimately, these politicians don't hold the state of California in their hands. It's the pastors and church leaders of the state of California who do."

Just this week, Fairrington's daughter gave birth to a baby girl. He shudders to think, if AB 2223 were passed, what could happen if his daughter thought the same way the California legislators do.

Fairrington says the passage of such legislation would make California a laughingstock in the United States.

"This should be the greatest place on earth to live, but the people in this building behind us have made this state a joke," Fairrington says. "I'm sad because California has become a moral wasteland, my kids and grandkids will have to make a decision as to whether they will stay here or move out of this state. Our family has way too much invested to leave here, and I believe the people in this building have badly miscalculated our resolve.

"It's going to take more than 120 state assemblymen and state senators, and an arrogant governor (Gavin Newsom) for us to leave this state. We are not backing up, and we are not shutting up. We are going to get louder and stronger.

"The Bible gives us a command to be angry and sin not. It is the responsibility of Bible-believing Christians to reflect righteous indignation when a state and nation promote wickedness ... I am angry at politicians for their liberal agenda that makes decisions to line their pocketbooks. I am angry at politicians who follow science that benefits their narrative and who do not follow real science at all.

"When you pass legislation like this, God will hold you accountable for the shedding of innocent blood. Church leaders, whether it's a synagogue or mosque or a church, we do not support this bill. If you do, you are not following the moral code of our faith. We need to vote these people who support a bill like this out of office."
