To Fathers

HAPPY FATHERS' DAY!

Every day should be a celebration of family, of honor, of truth, of responsibility, of love, and indeed, those are the qualities that come to mind when we think of fatherhood as our FATHER GOD intended it to be.

Has every man upheld his God-ordained role in the lives of his children? Perhaps every man must answer that question for himself.

According to the plan of the HOLY ONE, each earthly father would wrap his family in love, even as does our HEAVENLY FATHER wrap HIS people in HIS love.

As HIS WORD states, "GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE." John 3:16

That same CHRIST admonishes that we, "Love one another as I have loved you."

So a father's primary role is to love; to love fairly, to exercise his authority with kindness and diligence over his children, not "provoking them to anger."

Beyond that duty to love, is the admonition that he be the "Prophet and Priest" over his household.

To be the prophet, the father must carry the word of GOD to his family. In order to do that rightly, he must himself be steeped in the word. He must himself know CHRIST, for he cannot impart to another that which he does not himself possess.

To be the priest, the father must carry the needs of his family before the Throne of Mercy and Grace. In order to do that effectively, he must pray in the power and authority of the name of JESUS, for no other prayers reach Heaven.

He must be aware that "the same power that raised JESUS from the dead dwells in him," Romans 8:11, and he must employ that power toward the spiritual and temporal well-being of his family.

To fathers: Your commission is without equal. If you falter or fail in your role, the world has been robbed of the whole, secure, godly person your child is intended by the HEAVENLY FATHER to be.

Love your children well; guide them on the path of righteousness that they might know the SAVIOR through your reflection of HIM; pray for them fervently so they will not be ensnared by this godless world.
