Fathers, Do Not Exasperate Your Children

Ephesians 6:1-4

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 Honor your father and mother—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."

Being a parent isn't easy. Being a parent is at once the most challenging and frustrating yet wondrous and rewarding activity on earth.

The BIBLE admonishes children to obey their parents and to honor them. It promises that life will go well for them if they do. It challenges parents not to exasperate their children, for if they are to obey and honor them, they must live godly and good lives before their children.

The message Tim Kaine leaves for his daughter is troubling. It indicates that she avoids him, and that in itself is troubling. His vitriolic chastisement for that avoidance is even more disturbing.

If this man is so poor at managing his own family; if he is so unwise as to lash out verbally at his own flesh and blood, can we expect him to fulfill his duties as a vice president with wisdom?

Hillary Clinton's fervent support of abortion and Tim Kaine's intense diatribe against his daughter seem to indicate a disdain for the young on the part of these candidates for the loftiest positions in the land.
