The War for Our National Soul by Bill Wilson
The ones who accused anyone who supported President-Elect Donald Trump to be haters, deplorables, unredeemables, bigots, racists and xenophobes are the very same people who are conducting violence, threatening lives and, well, hating fellow Americans. This is a clear indication of their hearts.
They accuse people of being what they are. The news media and the Democratic Party had a significant role to play in this terrible division in our country. By shaping a narrative of bigotry, racism and hate and continuing to press it because the left was losing on the issues, they have caused a disgraceful and dangerous emotional response to the election.
The war for our nation's soul did not end with the election.
The Democrats have sown the seeds of suspicion and hatred to the point that they are now using it to paint each and all of President-Elect Trump's cabinet appointees that must be approved by Congress.
First, they will use this suspicion and bigotry as leverage against anyone under consideration. Already, communist Democratic Senator Charles Schumer is questioning whether Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions can execute the office of Attorney General because of his stance on immigration, and of course, that Trump would select him.
Instead of disagreeing politically, but understanding their loss, the Democrats are trying to undermine the entire Trump presidency before it gets started.
Already, no matter who you are, if you supported Trump, a large number of so-called Americans label you as a bigot. The Democratic Party has done nothing to call for unity, but rather has poured gasoline to this fire.
The apparent strategy is to continue to divide America down lines of race, immigration, and Islam, and claim anyone who disagrees with the Democratic Party platform is a racist or bigot or worse.
The Democratic Party, by not promoting and demanding unity of its members, is fomenting a kind of civil war that strikes at the heart of judging people for who they are perceived to be.
The "party" of anti-bullying is the bully; the party of inclusion, is dangerously exclusive. They are attacking the heart and soul of America.
We are at war. It is not subsiding. The very soul of who we all are as a people is under attack. The sooner we recognize it, the sooner we can deal with it. The election was only a speed bump, a rallying point for those who hate the American ideal-of which Christianity is the foundational keystone.
As the Lord said in Jeremiah 17:9, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"
And Jesus said in Matthew 7:16, "Therefore by their fruits you shall know them."
Romans 14:6 says, "Let not then your good be evil spoken of."
Stand up against those who sow hate among us and call you a bigot. Do it firmly, but with love that they might see the fallacy of their accusations.
