Relationships

Our concept of marital commitment for a lifetime has been greatly tarnished in our generation. We are a people who are quick to dispose of anything --including marriages-- that don't afford us immediate and complete gratification.

In the natural, this is understandable, for if our mind concurs with the mind of the world, our desire is for all we can get, as fast as we can get in, in order that our enjoyment of life can be complete. The world has no concept of waiting for lofty goals because its own concepts of what is worthwhile is set quite low.

Because the world builds its desires upon the things it can see and hear and taste and touch and handle, it is compelled to achieve the best of what it can perceive with its senses. The foundation for all it wants is in its "self."

The believer in CHRIST is admonished to desire the things that are above and to build the entirety of his life, including his relationships, upon the foundation of the eternal. Therefore, the one who has espoused the tenets of faith in JESUS, will govern the attainment of his goals upon the principles that the LORD has established.

The believer in the SAVIOR will value the things of Heaven--the things he cannot see or hear or taste or touch ore handle--far more than he esteems the trappings of success that Earth holds out to him.

The believer in the HOLY ONE will place everything that concerns himself at the feet of JESUS--including all his relationships with other people, including his marriage--in order that the LORD might conform the entirety of his life to HIS will and to the purposes of Heaven; in order that the LORD might conform his marriage to GOD'S holy concept of marriage.

Be brave enough not to settle for just any relationship and courageous enough to wait for the future God has for you.
