Employ Your Promise

June 12

Lord Jesus, help us appropriate the promise you have given in John 14:12! Here You have stated, “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing; he will do even greater things than I have done because I am going to the Father.”

What a remarkable assurance! Lord, You are God incarnate. You came to earth as a Man above all men, an absolutely sinless man. You showed Yourself compassionate toward the sick and the poor and the hungry and the possessed. You spoke the word and the dead were raised to life!

You endured cruel stripes on Your back to affect our healing; You bore our sins to the cross of Calvary where You were the perfect sacrifice for all our transgressions—and You arose from the tomb on the third day! You showed Yourself alive to Your disciples. Even secular historians acknowledge that this amazing miracle of life over death and thereby, the triumph of righteousness over sin, actually took place as the Bible affirms.

And You have promised that we have access to that same power that You evidenced when You healed the sick and provided for the hungry and raised the dead! Almighty God of Heaven and Earth and all that exists, we humbly hold out our hearts and ask You to fill them with faith. We humbly hold out our hands and ask You to endue them with power to employ Your promise among the suffering of mankind around us.
