Over the last year, nearly 50% of our churches have been closed down. In the nearly 245 years we have been a nation, THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!
Through past health outbreaks, including the deadly Spanish Flu in 1918, through the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, through World Wars 1 and 2, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the wars in Iran and Afghanistan, through 9/11...NEVER!!!
It is disconcerting that we have allowed the government to take away our 1st Amendment right to gather for worship! if they have been able to enforce this unconstitutional action, we must wonder how they will next impose an unconstitutional requirement upon us.
When we caved in to the tyranny of the state, we poised ourselves for further infringements upon our steadfast liberty under the law of the land.
Nearly a year later, 50% of our churches are still shuttered. Do you suppose the ultimate intent is to silence the voice of faith entirely?
Do you suppose the iron fist of governmental control includes the total absence of the voice of God to encourage and strengthen the people against a totalitarian regime that controls all thought?
Thankfully, there is a remnant of Godly pastors and priests who have fought back and have won! Just in the past week, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of California churches and a NY State judge ruled that Gov. Cuomo cannot limit the number of people at a church service.
I imagine as the weeks and months roll on, we might see half of the churches that are closed today reopen. While this is sad, I believe it is also necessary as the pruning of the church during a time of adversity has always been part of the Lord's method of strengthening the faith of His people.
This pruning process will leave the faithful much stronger, as our houses of worship anchor themselves less on the world and more securely on the Rock that is Jesus.
