 One More Day

"It is appointed to man once to die..." Hebrews 9:27, and none of us knows when that appointment will arrive.
Unless we are prisoners awaiting a set execution date, the moment of our demise will come upon us without announcement, without fanfare. The probability is that we will be about our usual routine --awakening at our usual hour, preparing an ordinary breakfast, departing for our usual day of work or shopping or interaction with friends.
Then, without warning, all our activity will come to a screeching halt.
Our final breath will be drawn and we will, as Shakespeare said, "shuffle off this mortal coil." And when we shuffle off, where will we go?
If we knew when our time of departure would arrive, if we knew we had one more day, how would we change that final day? What would we do differently from our normal routine? What words would we say that otherwise wouldn't cross our lips? Where would we go? Who would we want to see?
Perhaps you have a million tomorrows so fretting about your last day is irrelevant to you, but what if today were your last full day on earth? What if the next 24 hours were your last? What if you had one more day?
What if?
