Thoughts on Pat Robertson

Thoughts on Pat Robertson by Bill Wilson Pat Robertson has passed at 93. He was an extraordinary man. In the 1980s when I was working in politics, Pat was scheduled to speak at one of the rallies. It was when he first announced he was running for president. The moderates in the GOP were shunning him and the conservatives kept an arm’s length as if he had leprosy. It just so happened that the mic at the podium wasn’t working right and nobody would help him. My thoughts were that the mic had been sabotaged so he would be embarrassed. I pulled Pat aside and told him I would try to fix the problem. Sure enough, someone had disconnected one of the cables. Pat was forever grateful. Some years later, we spent some time talking on the floor of the GOP convention in Virginia. He remembered me. We had a good laugh. And some discussion about the national political environment. The media was always critical or making fun of this man. In my opinion, they did so largely because they hate the Christian conservative agenda and have absolutely no understanding of the Biblical context to which Pat was referring. Our loss is Heaven’s gain as Pat goes home.
