Cloud vs. Freedom

Cloud vs. Freedom Woke extremist athletes are alienating fans from the game. But no one saw this coming. And this former NBA star’s message about America on July 4 will leave you totally flabbergasted. Natasha Cloud, a guard for the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, became the latest anti-American athlete to claim she hates the country in which she’s able to play a game for a living. In a post on social media ahead of the July 4 holiday weekend, Cloud blasted America as “trash” after the Supreme Court ruled college and universities could not discriminate against applicants on the basis of their race. “Our country is trash in so many ways,” Cloud ranted. “And instead of using our resources to make it better we continue to oppress Marginalized groups that we have targeted since the beginning of times.” But former NBA star Enes Freedom – who changed his last name from Kanter to Freedom after becoming an American citizen – has a different perception after growing up in Turkey. Freedom has been unable to travel back to his native Turkey for years after he began speaking out against the corruption within Turkey’s government, leading the government to arrest and charge his father – who publicly disowned his son in a bid to save himself and his family – as a terrorist, while also issuing a warrant for the former NBA player’s arrest as well. As such, Freedom responded to Cloud on Twitter by pointing out the absurdity of her comments, telling her to travel to authoritarian countries, like North Korea, Communist China, Russia, Turkey, Iran, or Venezuela, criticize their governments and see what happens. “Calling America trash huh?” Freedom tweeted. “Let me know when your season is over, I’ll buy your ticket and we can go together to counties like China, Russia, IRAN, North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, & Turkey. Forget about calling them trash, I would like to see if you can even criticize those regimes!! You and your family members would be thrown in jail, tortured to death, and raped.” “People have NO idea how lucky and blessed they are to be in a country like America,” he continued. “I’m not saying America is perfect, but trust me, you don’t wanna see the other side.” Freedom has been one of the most outspoken pro-America athletes in sports today, and suggested that his playing career came to an end last year due to his criticism of Communist China’s authoritarian regime and genocide against Uyghur Muslims, which the NBA has gone out of its way to ignore in order to continue having access to the country’s more than 1.4 billion citizens. “Let me give you a very easy stat, it is not rocket science: [in 2020-2021], I played for the Portland Trail Blazers and averaged a double-double,” Freedom explained. “We made the playoffs. And they are telling me that six months later, I forgot how to play basketball? Even the kids on the streets will laugh at that notion.” “I believe I could start in many cases right now, but because the things I say are hurting the NBA financially, they wanted me out of the league,” he continued. “It’s that simple. I just turned 30, and they are pushing me to retire. I can play another six or seven years easily. But unfortunately, with a league like this and with the players in it like this, it looks like it’s not possible.” If anyone should recognize the blessings of America, it is pro athletes who achieve riches and fame beyond anyone’s wildest dreams because sports are the ultimate meritocracy.
