"If a man provides not for his own household, he is worse than an infidel." I Timothy 5:8
"If a man will not work, he should not eat." II Thessalonians 3:10
The Bible is not opposed to helping those in need, but it is adamantly against the socialistic notion of relying on the government--the labor of those who are heavily taxed--to supply those who do not work.
May we be compassionate to the widow and orphan, to the downtrodden,
but may we insist that everyone else invest himself in the provision of
his own and the needs of his family--just as the Bible says he should.
