Are the Gifts of the Spirit Passe?

Are the "gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT" passe?

Here is one woman's testimony that they are not:

Believers in Christ have differing interpretations of the Biblical passages that regard the "gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT" (more follows in succeeding posts).

Some Christians are certain that the gifts are passe; that they were given to believers at the onset of the faith in order to help them to substantiate the claims of the new, off-shoot religion.

These people are convinced that the gifts are no longer necessary because Christianity is established.

Other believers are convinced that the gifts shall be in effect until CHRIST returns, and indeed they practice the gifts in their services.

I will state here that I am of the second group and that I have experienced some of the gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT at the point of various needs in my life.

I will share one here...
Many years ago, my husband came home from work with the information that a position was available in his company that would require travel abroad.

My response was negative, because I was very fearful of venturing from our own borders. In deference to my wishes, my husband agreed to abandon the idea of looking into the possibility of his attaining the position.

We attended church as usual that Sunday. Nobody knew of our conversation regarding world travel because we had simply dropped the subject.

As the service began, there was a "message in tongues," and the interpretation was, "YOU CAN GO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD AND I WILL BE WITH YOU AND I WILL BRING YOU HOME SAFELY."

My husband and I looked at each other, knowing that the message was for us. When we got into our car to go home, we had another discussion about the job. When he went to work the next day, he applied for the job. He got the position.

After he'd taken many trips into a foreign country, we moved there as a family. We remained for almost five years, at which time, the LORD brought us home--all according to the promise HE'd spoken in church that day.

The GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT are real, and they are viable today.

"THE PROMISE IS FOR YOU AND FOR YOUR CHILDREN AND FOR ALL THOSE WHO ARE AFAR OFF, AS MANY AS THE LORD OUR GOD SHALL CALL."  Acts 2:39
