People in AMERICA will celebrate THANKSGIVING this week.
The idea of giving thanks to GOD is deeply embedded in the culture of this nation. The Pilgrims celebrated the first Thanksgiving to give praise to GOD for HIS hand of keeping and protection over them after a cold and disastrous first winter.
The NATIVE AMERICAN neighbors who had been so helpful to them in their distress were included in the festivities.
Since that first Thanksgiving, many presidents have issued
proclamations of thanksgiving to the HOLY ONE whose hand has kept the
nation through times of peace and through times of war.
The BIBLE says that believers are to "give thanks in all things."
That does not mean that all things are good, but that GOD HIMSELF remains good even when circumstances turn bad...and HE IS WORTHY OF THANKS AND PRAISE EVEN IN THE MIDST OF A TRYING AND UNFORTUNATE TURN OF EVENTS.
The WORD of GOD tells believers that "GOD INHABITS THE PRAISE OF HIS PEOPLE." That truth assures believers that when they pray and praise and trust and thank GOD in the midst of their trials, HE WILL BE PRESENT WITH THEM--AND WHERE HE IS, NO DARKNESS CAN OVERCOME HIS LIGHT, NO ADVERSITY CAN OVERCOME HIS POWER, NO PROBLEM CAN OVERCOME HIS SOLUTION.
Through this week, and through your lifetime, "GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD FOR HE IS GOOD, FOR HIS MERCY ENDURES FOREVER."
