Fasting is a viable weapon in the believer's arsenal against the wiles of the evil one, against the problems that assail the person of faith.

Is there something that defies change, even though you have fervently prayed? Is there something so entrenched that it won't budge from the hold it has on you or some situation that affects you or some person you're praying for?

If you are at a difficult juncture where a circumstance refuses to improve despite repeated prayers, perhaps it is time to declare a fast.

No, you don't have to go into the desert for 40 days and 40 nights as JESUS did, but you do have to designate a time when you will abstain from food or from watching TV or from eating candy or...

You must set aside a time when you give up something important to you and use that time instead to focus on prayer for the change you are seeking.

May the LORD speak to your heart about the fast HE would have you to do and may the power of your prayers increase a thousand fold as you lay hold of the hem of HIS garment in prayer.
