Thoughts on Today's Verse

"You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet." I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. John 13:13-15
Thoughts on Today's Verse by Phil Ware
Before Jesus went to the cross, he showed his disciples what it means to live in a cross-centered community: he took the position of a household slave and washed his disciples' feet. He did it knowing they would run from him, disown him, betray him, and deny him. Incredible! But he also says that I'm to do it, too. "You can't say you love me," Jesus is saying, "if you won't love those I suffered and died for!" (see 1 John 3:14-18 & 1 John 4:7-12)
My Prayer...
O God, I want to be like my Teacher and your Son. I renounce my self-seeking ways so that I can genuinely serve your children, even those who may not be kind to me. Please give me the strength, courage, and patience to live up to these convictions and more perfectly reflect the character of Christ. In the name of Jesus, my Lord, I pray. Amen.
