As a believer, it would be easy to become downcast with the recent activity in our nation. It would almost seem our nation has chosen to move away from God with the choices our electorate has made and the corruption that is clearly taking place among our leaders. The left is trying to reshape our society.

There is only one thing standing in their way – God!

In the Old Testament the people of Israel were delivered by God from the Egyptians who were chasing them toward the Red Sea. God did one of His greatest miracles by parting the Red Sea and destroying the Egyptian army.

However, it was not long after that the Israelites forgot the great deeds God did for them. The result was God gave them a leanness in their soul.

They soon forgot His works;

They did not wait for His counsel,

They lusted exceedingly in the wilderness,

They tested God in the desert.

So, He gave them their request, but their desire sent leanness into their soul (Psalm 106:13-15).

What does leanness in the soul mean?

It means they lost their ability to discern right from wrong. It means they lost intimacy with God. It means they lived a life of sin. It means they lost the blessing of God.

That is where America is.

The good news is there is still a remnant of faithful, God-fearing followers of Jesus who are standing for God’s promises for America. And those believers who follow Jesus still represent a large number of people.

However, if you just look at the surface and watch the news, you might be discouraged.

Let me remind you of one fact:

It takes only 3-5% of a leadership operating at the top of a cultural mountain to shift that mountain.

Through prayer, repentance and strategic influence, we can recover what has been lost. But we must do things differently. What must we do?

Begin by confessing our sin and allowing Jesus to wash us clean in the healing, cleansing flow of Calvary.

Continue by praying II Chronicles 7:14 fervently for our nation: "IF MY PEOPLE, WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME, WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES AND PRAY AND SEEK MY FACE AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, THEN WILL I HEAR FROM HEAVEN AND FORGIVE THEIR SIN AND HEAL THEIR LAND."

Continue by not only sharing the good news of CHRIST who saves, but living the good news of Christ who saves. Let your faith in HIM cause you to abide in HIS truth as well as to proclaim HIS truth.

Then, trust that as you do your part in your little corner of the world, that HE will do HIS part by sending HIS HOLY SPIRIT to transform the hearts of those who dwell in your little corner of the world.
