Again Today
I plan to post this every day until the election:
In 1983 Russian writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn offered the United States this prophetic warning:
"All attempts to find a way out of the plight of today's world are
fruitless unless we redirect our consciousness in repentance to the
creator of all; without this no exit will be illumined and we shall seek
it in vain...
"We cannot escape the consequences of our apostasy
without paying a terrible price; the resources we have set aside for
ourselves are too impoverished for the task.
"We must first
recognize the horror perpetrated - not by some outside force, not by
class or national enemies, but within each of us individually.
"We have surely brought everything upon ourselves of our own free will.
We ourselves in our daily unthinking selfishness are pulling tight that
noose.
"How tragic it would be if the freest nation on earth were
to sell it's birthright for the pottage of state socialism; how ironic
if once again God's gift of free will were to become the agent of our
own self-destruction."
