If GOD'S plans for you are "good," why haven't you realized the blessings you desire of HIM?
One big reason for the discrepancy between the prayers and the promise is the vast gulf between what you consider to be good and what GOD considers to be good.
You would like very much to possess wealth and achieve fulfilling goals and attain great esteem in the eyes of men.
These things, and so many others that the world holds dear, are inconsequential to the HOLY ONE.
Whether or not you realize the trappings of success that are valued in the eyes of men, the CHRIST who loves you and who died for your ultimate good, wants you to possess HIS perfect good.
First, HE wants you to have salvation. Without that single, matchless, unique "unspeakable GIFT," you are a pauper for time and you are lost for eternity.
If you owned nothing else in life, but possessed CHRIST'S salvation, you would be eternally wealthy.
With salvation, come the LORD'S gifts of:
joy
peace
hope
truth
faith
These are all things that the world can't give to you and that the world can't take away from you.
Give your heart to JESUS. Allow HIS unspeakable GIFT and their accompanying gifts to be your portion, and as the old hymn says:
"...the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of HIS glory and grace."
These things, and so many others that the world holds dear, are inconsequential to the HOLY ONE.
