Music
It is said that music moves the soul.
There is little that can lift the spirit of an individual out of the doldrums as can the exultant strains of the worship team in a spirit-filled church. As much as the eloquence of a preacher, the skill of a worship leader can move a crowd from darkness to light, from lostness to salvation.
But, there is a reverse side to that hit record, and often it is dark. The flip side of the glorious use of music to lift and to bless is the ability of music to draw out the pain, the pessimism, the anguish of a human heart.
In the Heavenlies, before time was, the Word of God tells us that Lucifer was the chief musician. It is difficult to fathom the evil one in charge of Heaven's choir but he was.
Perhaps because of his great skill in that role, he continues to use music to achieve his purpose of compelling men to himself through his ability to tap the very heart of their being with the strains of skilled voices and instruments.
The following pays tribute to many of the artists who have poured their talents upon the whole listening public, who have both lifted us and cast us down with the haunting strains of their music--some of which reflects the very glory of Heaven that Lucifer himself played before the Throne of the Holy One; some of which revels in the godless rebel he became and would have all mankind to become.
