Thanksgiving Traditions

Thanksgiving Traditions
With Thanksgiving just a couple of weeks away, may we begin to assess our perception of the holiday.
We gather with family and friends. We prepare delicious foods. We enjoy the waning days of nonstop football.
But, do we give thanks?
Do we dedicate any portion of this wonderful holiday to the praise and thanksgiving of our LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST?
Do we thank Him for the family and friends we have around us?
Do we thank Him for the food we consume each day?
Do we thank Him for the leisure time we have to enjoy sports?
Do we thank Him that we live in a country where we are free to indulge our passions and to pursue our dreams? Do we thank Him for a nation that defends our right to express our thoughts--even if they are critical of our leadership?
Do we thank Him because we are free to worship HIM as we see fit or to ignore HIM as our conscience dictates?
May we contemplate the full magnitude of HIS blessings toward us and may we lift our sincere praise and thanks to HIS throne of mercy and grace.
And when Thanksgiving Day arrives, may our celebration revolve around the ONE who is the AUTHOR of all the good and precious things in our lives.
