My Heart May Sing

June 28

Life. It’s a thin thread. It can snap without warning. The news is replete with evidence of the suddenness of the transitions that can be not only life-transforming but life-ending. No one knows when his last day upon this tumultuous planet will dawn; no one knows when he will be stricken with illness or struck down by an accident or undone by an act of violence. No one knows.

But there is One who holds man and all his days in the hollow of His loving hand, and He is the One to whom we turn for comfort when confronted by the insecurities of living a very tenuous existence. When we lay our frail being at the feet of Jesus and allow Him to take charge of the life He has given us for time and eternity, we are transformed from doubters who dwell in dread to stalwarts of faith who dwell in power!

The mere fact of receiving Jesus and the salvation He provides has an amazingly positive impact upon our perception of life. As David says in Psalm 30:11, 12, “You turned my mourning and sorrow into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy so my heart may sing to You and not be silent. O, Lord, my God, I will give You praise forever.”

Praise Him forever. Simply laying our lives at His feet transforms our lives from frail, tenuous beings in time to eternal existence. We no longer need fear the suddenness with which death and loss can assail, for we know we never die! We live forever to praise and glorify the One who set us free from fear, free from loss, free from death! The God who gives us life gives life eternal.
