The Only Help

June 12

The tasks that man takes upon himself can be daunting. It all seems quite manageable at the onset, but as time goes on, the demands of his professional and personal life become quite formidable to the point where he hasn’t time to recreate, to renew himself, to re-energize his resolve.

When this happens, he may falter. He may seek another career or another spouse. Not knowing how to extricate himself from his dilemma, he thrashes about, trying things that can’t improve his situation and often, make it worse.

A professional change may require a move across the country which will necessitate acquiring a new circle of acquaintances and a new skill set for the new job. A romantic dalliance will complicate home life and place more challenges upon personal as well as professional relationships. The person who was endeavoring to escape a trying set of circumstances finds himself even more profoundly challenged by his new situation.

The Biblical answer to overcoming the ever-pressing demands of juggling work and personal life is found in Philippians 4:13 where Paul tells the believers in Philippi, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” If a believer will give to the Lord the right to pervade his entire environment, his entire environment will be blessed by the kind of help that only our Savior and King can provide.
