God sometimes leads us into situations that force us to decide what we really need. We pray, and He bestows it upon us. Beyond answering our prayer, He has also led us to pray the prayer (see Romans 8:26)!
He guides these situations so we will begin to think as He thinks.
When He wants to produce character in us, He will work in whatever way is necessary to deliver us from our human outlook and limitations to His godly outlook and power.
"The Spirit helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." Romans 8:26
