No Greater Love

"Greater love has no man than this--that a man lay down his life for his friend" (for his nation).

We honor those today who have fallen in service to our nation and to its ideals.

Those brave young people (many of whom died before they were old enough to vote!) did not lay down their lives for socialism, for communism, for multiculturalism...NO! They laid down their lives for the American dream.

Many of them were the children of legal immigrants who came to America for a better life. They were willing to sacrifice themselves to assure that the woes their parents had left behind would not be visited upon them in this brave, new land!

May we who are the beneficiaries of their heroism, of their steadfast commitment to the ideals of our founding fathers, not falter in our resolve to carry forth the principles for which they gave their lives.

May we not only honor them, but may we pick up the Stars and Stripes and go forward into the intellectual fray that is the current battlefield for the principles for which they laid down their lives.

May we not foolishly relinquish our freedom to the ideology against which they "gave the last full measure of devotion."
