On This Memorial Day

On this Memorial Day weekend, as we honor those who have died in service to our nation, we bow in humble gratitude with thankful hearts that they laid down their lives for us--for this nation.

May we live worthy of their sacrifice by speaking out for the freedom, the strength, the Christian faith they died to preserve.

May we also be ever-thankful for the sacrifice of JESUS HIMSELF, for "HE HAS BORNE OUR GRIEFS AND CARRIED OUR SORROWS..." Isaiah 53.

JESUS took our penalty for our sin to HIS cross, thereby setting us free from our debt. The WORD of GOD says, "The WAGE OF SIN IS DEATH..." We earned death. "...BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS." We could not redeem ourselves; we could not gain eternal life on our own.

JESUS GAVE US ETERNAL LIFE BY PAYING OUR DEBT OF SIN IN OUR BEHALF.

And, unlike the brave soldiers that we celebrate this Memorial Day, HE DID NOT JUST DIE FOR US --- HE AROSE FOR US!

Death and the grave--sin's penalty--couldn't hold HIM! And it can't hold us.

Like JESUS, we who believe in HIS NAME, who receive HIS FREE GIFT, shall arise. Death and the grave can't hold us down, for the enemy has been defeated at the cross.

Hope with God
