Getting Ready for Thanksgiving

  1. Getting Ready for Thanksgiving

  2. The holiday we'll be celebrating next week has a long history in the United States. The Pilgrims planned the first feast and included as their guests the local Indians who had helped them to grow food to survive the winter.

  3. Unlike the explanation many believe today, the holiday was not to thank the Indians, but to thank the GOD who had preserved them on their arduous journey to the New World and who had kept them through the harsh realities they found upon their arrival.

  4. Yes, HE used the kindness of the Indians, but their preservation was ultimately HIS kind provision toward them.

  5. As we continue their tradition by celebrating with our family and friends, may we be mindful of the hand of the HOLY ONE upon our lives. May we thank HIM for the goodness and mercy HE has shown to us and may we glorify HIS HOLY NAME by lifting our praise to HIM.

  6. And may we be mindful that it is not in this life alone that our blessings come. As the Apostle said, "Were it in this life alone that we are blessed, we would be of all men most miserable."

  7. May we abound in thanksgiving to JESUS, our precious SAVIOR and LORD, through whose propitiatory life, death, and resurrection, we are heirs of eternal salvation.
Because of JESUS, we are heirs to all things and we shall reign with HIM forever.
