   The word "happy" has the same root as the word "happen," and indeed, happiness depends largely upon the things that happen in ones life.
   ...

   When good things happen, when great opportunities come, when wealth abounds, people are inclined to feel good about their lives. It is at these times when the bounty the world has to offer overflows into a life, that people express happiness.

   Conversely, there are the low points in life...there are the times when disappointments come, when loss occurs, when poverty strikes or defeat comes in some unbearable way, and these are the times when happiness fades into the vast sea of life's harsh realities.

   At these most difficult of times, the believer in CHRIST must hold fast to the one thing the happenstance of life cannot take from him; at these most difficult times, the believer in CHRIST must hold fast to his joy.
7. 
   GOD'S holy WORD, the BIBLE tells us in Nehemiah 8:10, "The joy of the LORD is your strength." That joy does not come because of life's favors being ones portion; NO! That joy comes because of GOD'S favor which never ceases to be the portion of the person of faith.

   In the midst of your trial, give HIM praise.
9. 
   In the throes of your dilemma, exalt HIS name.
10. 
    At the point of your need, give HIM thanks.
11. 
    HE "INHABITS THE PRAISE OF HIS PEOPLE," and you will see HIM most clearly, know HIS power most fully, experience HIS joy most completely when you lift THANKSGIVING and PRAISE to HIM from the depth of your loss and despair.
