Thankful for Love

Thankful for Love

Sometimes it takes a few tries to finally get it right because we don’t always go about finding love or giving love in the best way, however, it is essential for love to be present in all forms of relationships.

No matter whether it is relationships with our family, friends, or those we serve, love must be the essence of those varied forms of interaction with other people. However, there is little emphasis placed on self-love. That is why we frequently allo...w ourselves to remain in romantic relationships that are detrimental to us.

Because we desire love that we're missing within ourselves, we seek to fulfill that need in all the wrong places.

In order to love ourselves rightly, we must first and foremost know, and have a relationship with our Foundation; with the Source of all forms of love.

We must know the truth stated clearly in the BIBLE, that God is love. Further, we must be sure that our Creator made us for relationship with Himself, and we are cherished in His eyes. When we believe that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, we see ourselves as being precious to the Holy One.

When we have that assurance firmly fixed within ourselves, we know and rely on the love God has for us. Knowing that we are precious to Him, enables us to allow others to be precious to us.

"God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God and God in him,” I John 4:16.

When we abide in God's love, we are confident in His love for us, and we maximize our relationships. The love we give to others, and the love we seek from them becomes rooted in the only love that is real.

Our love, no matter how sincerely we give it or strive to receive it, is counterfeit until it has GOD as its source because only GOD is love.

When we know who we are in CHRIST; we can truly know our worth, for our worth is validated by HIS love for us. When we know that we are HIS own beloved, the love within us becomes purified by HIS love for us.

When I know God is by my side and is writing my love story, I can be confident that each chapter in the book of my life will hold the love that is appropriate to me at that juncture in time.

When JESUS is central to my understanding of what love is, I will be sure that the love I give and that the love I seek is anchored in GOD WHO IS LOVE.

As Proverbs 19:8 states “He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who cherishes understanding prospers." When we have the wisdom to define love as it really is --GOD IS LOVE-- then both the love we give and the love we seek will be the real deal.

Then we will be both possessors of and seekers of the love for which we can give thanks.
