Mary and Joseph took the CHILD to the temple, to dedicate HIM after the custom of the people.
When they had entered the temple, they passed a man named Simeon, who had spent decades in the temple, praying for the revelation of GOD'S MESSIAH, for the LORD had told him he would not die until he had seen the CHRIST.
When he saw this child, Simeon took HIM into his arms and said, "LORD, now let THY servant depart in peace, according to THY word, for mine eyes have seen THY salvation, which THOU hast prepared before the face of all people...a light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of THY people
Israel." Luke 2:28-32
