God Is Willing to Negotiate
Mrs. Fazio's Story
A dear old lady that I knew long ago had come to the United States from her native Italy at the turn of the Twentieth Century. Her backyard was adjacent to that of my grandmother, and they became best friends.
Mrs. Fazio's Story
A dear old lady that I knew long ago had come to the United States from her native Italy at the turn of the Twentieth Century. Her backyard was adjacent to that of my grandmother, and they became best friends.
After moving away from my hometown, I would stop to visit whenever my family and I returned to see our families.
Once while at her home, she asked, "Sandra, what religion are you?"
I dreaded to tell her that I'd left Catholicism and become Pentecostal, for she had been a devoted Catholic all her life.
When the words had been forced out of my mouth, she replied, "That's good!"
I said in stunned amazement, "Mrs. Fazio, you surprise me. I didn't think you'd approve."
Then she told me her story.
"When I was a young woman, I was diagnosed with kidney disease. There was no remedy in those days.
"I lay in my bed, day after day, waiting to die. Every morning, my doctor and my priest visited faithfully.
"One morning they arrived at the same time. They thought I was asleep. The priest asked the doctor how much time he thought I had. He told him that he thought I would die before the day was over.
"I wept before GOD, 'LORD JESUS, I can't die! I have two little boys to raise!'
"Soon after they left, your Great-uncle Frank arrived. He had just been swept into the Pentecostal movement that was raging like wildfire across the country--including the Italian immigrant community.
"He got down on his knees and prayed, 'JESUS, SAVIOR and HEALER, this woman cannot die! She has two little boys to raise! I claim healing, I claim deliverance for her in YOUR name!'
"The next morning when the priest and the doctor arrived, I cooked breakfast for them."
My Mother's Story
My delivery was by "C-Section." My mother did not fare well after I was born. Her condition deteriorated. She went into a coma. She was hospitalized for three months, during which time her new baby was cared for by her three sisters.
While in a coma (she later related), the LORD JESUS appeared to her. HE said, "Would you like to come with ME?"
Her response was, "I would love to go with YOU, but can YOU wait until my baby grows up?"
JESUS agreed to wait until her baby grew up. My mother died when I was 19 years old.
