Salvation belongs to the LORD..It is HIS to give Psalms 3:8
One of the most difficult lessons of man to learn is that he cannot save himself.
Man's earliest memories are of being taught to take care of himself, to
supply his own needs. Caring parents instill a sense of independence
within their children.
Tie your own shoes.
Pick up your own toys.
Make your own bed.
Do your own homework.
The words instilled in childhood carry through to adulthood.
Do your own work.
Rely on your own efforts.
Supply your own needs.
Defend your own possessions.
And indeed, self-sufficiency is a laudable attribute, one that is shared by successful people in every walk of life.
In fact the attainment of eternal salvation is probably the only thing
in life that a man cannot do for himself, for no man can please our HOLY
GOD by his good works. No man can satisfy GOD's holy law by his own
goodness.
It is recognizing his need for a SAVIOR that a man
comes to the end of himself and finds himself fulfilled in the only way
that transcends time and stretches to eternity.
No matter what
you have, no matter the accumulated value of all you've achieved and of
all you've acquired, nothing--NOTHING--you own can go with you when you
die.
Nothing you've received can go with you except CHRIST'S free and unspeakable gift.
