"FATHER, forgive them; they know not what they do." JESUS as HE hung on the cross.
Our greatest imperative is to emulate our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. There is nothing else that we can do or strive to be that will afford us the great reward that our following after HIM will provide.
Often, we convince ourselves that if we relinquish our earthly desires for HIS eternal promises, we will become losers; we will fail to achieve the potential we could possibly attain.
Thinking we give up something in order to receive CHRIST'S FREE and
UNSPEAKABLE GIFT is to deceive ourselves. It is to relegate our
pursuits to the accomplishment of the goals of time which cannot
satisfy; it is to prevent our striving from achieving our ultimate good.
If we can shake off the chains that bind our desire to the world's treasures, if we can release ourselves from bondage to the fruitless pursuits that disappoint us, then we can be free to receive the wondrous gift the LORD has for us--the gift that will make us forever free, forever rich, forever part of our FATHER'S eternal family.
