Things are not always the way they first appear.
One can only imagine the fiendish glee in the eye of satan when the LORD, hanging on the cross, said, "It is finished."
His wicked mind affirmed, "Yes, Jesus, You are finished. Your influence over men is finished. Your interference in my scheme to compel all people to bow before me is finished!"
But the arch-enemy of God, the one who had been the chief musician of
Heaven until his pride caused him to lead a rebellion against the HOLY
ONE, could not fathom the true meaning of the words, "IT IS FINISHED."
He couldn't know that it meant the great plan of the TRIUNE MAJESTY whereby Christ would be "slain from the foundation of the earth," Revelation 13:8, had just concluded "Part A" of the Divine agreement.
Jesus had come, Jesus had lived, Jesus had died, Jesus was buried--and the plan for man's redemption was finished. Jesus had borne all the sin of fallen man upon His own sinless person. He had paid God's righteous penalty for that sin. The death sentence that every man deserves was carried out at Calvary.
As Jesus hung there, the storm came--lightening flashed and thunder roared--and the heavy veil in the Temple that separated the main sanctuary from the Holy of Holies was torn from top to bottom by an unseen hand, signifying that there is no longer any separation between man and God. Part B of the plan was finished.
Because of JESUS, because of the cleansing flow from Emmanuel's veins, the sinner is washed clean and free to come into the presence of the Holy God of Heaven and Earth.
The third day, the stone was rolled away and the LORD OF GLORY came forth in the radiance of His person. On the third day, HE proved that death, that satan, had lost and that life, that GOD, had won!
Come before HIM today, and experience first-hand, the difference a day can make.
