Prayer for Protection

Our Father and our God, we come before You as what Your Word has said we are--we are Your beloved children, for whom Christ died--because our Savior loved us unto death, we know we may approach Your throne of mercy and grace without fear or trembling.

We know we may come before You with our petitions and our prayers so You can provide for us according to Your perfect will.

Our great and Holy God, You know the concerns we have because of the influx of unvetted people from lands where terrorism is cultivated and where hatred for people who are free, for people who are believers in Christ, is fermented.

Our concerns are not just for ourselves and for our own safety but for our progeny, for the young people who will perhaps be enslaved into a bitter culture of death because our leaders have allowed an unknown danger to enter among us.

Lord, we know You would have us to reach out with compassion to any who are truly suffering; we know Your desire is that Your children help and refresh and enlighten a people who are helpless and weary and steeped in darkness; yet Your Word admonishes that we be "wise as serpents and harmless as doves." Matthew 10:16

You caution us not to be foolish in any of our words or deeds. We ask You to open our hearts to Your own heart--we ask that You teach us how to pray for our leaders who have subjected us to this threat of danger. Help us to pray that they be wise and that they fully assume their responsibility of righteous governance.

We ask You to help us to pray fervently for those who are victims of war and terrorism, that they may escape the pangs of war and terror, but more importantly that they may escape the pangs of hell that await those who harbor evil in their hearts.

In this world, where evil is called good and good is called evil, Isaiah 5:20, we ask You to help Your people to be discerning, to help Your people to be steadfast in their devotion and commitment to Your Holy Child Jesus, so we won't cower in fear at the threat of the "one who comes to steal, kill, and destroy," John 10:10, but that we will with boldness proclaim Christ's truth to everyone whose life touches ours.

It is in the mighty, matchless name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord that we pray, Father. Amen.
