Prophet and Priest
Every man is commissioned to be the prophet and priest over his home. As prophet, it is his job to bring the word of the Lord to his family. As priest, it is his responsibility to carry the needs of his family before the Lord.
A mother's role is vital. She is the one who serves her family in love. She is the one who is 'hands-on' regarding the rearing of her children, but the role of the father is indispensable.
As both parents
work in concert, determined in their hearts to nurture their children
"in the wisdom and admonition of the Lord," Ephesians 6:4, their
youngsters will have the optimum opportunity to "grow in wisdom and in
stature and in favor with God and man." Luke 2:52
If a man is not resolute in his commitment to Christ and His Kingdom's purposes, he is not suitable dating material for a Christian girl. Likewise, no matter how lovely a young lady may be, she cannot be considered marriage material for a man who desires to fully serve the Living God if her heart does not belong to Jesus.
In order to fulfill the role the Holy One has designated for His people to fill within their homes and marriages, there must be agreement on the part of the spouses, for "a house divided against itself cannot stand." Mark 3:25
May every man, with the full cooperation of his wife, affirm, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15
