"You are not your own, for you are bought with a price." I Corinthians 6:19, 20
There is no man, woman or child on the planet, who has ever traversed this Vale of Tears, who belongs to himself. Because the LORD JESUS, the Second Person of the Triune Majesty on High, came to earth as a Man to redeem men from sin, HE has all 'rights' to each of us.
But many of us are unaware of His right. Many dismiss the story of the God-Man who lived the perfect life and died the sacrificial death and rose as the Conqueror of death, hell and the grave as being too incredible to accept.
Many have heard the story and believe it but have put off their own
commitment to the LORD to a "more convenient time." They are dismissive
of the Biblical admonition that "Now is the accepted time, today is the
day of salvation." II Corinthians 6:2
They are so fully immersed in living life that they are unmindful of life's most amazing gift, of God's "unspeakable GIFT," II Corinthians 9:15. They toy with their need for salvation, telling themselves that enjoying life is of paramount importance; to diminish any opportunity to taste of life's pleasures is not to be sacrificed on the altar of their own eternal salvation.
But, no man "knows the day or the hour" when the holy angels will come for his soul. No man "knows the day or the hour," Matthew 24:36, Mark 13:32, when JESUS shall burst the eastern sky and He shall stand again on the earth as the angels proclaimed:
"YOU MEN OF GALILEE, WHY DO YOU STAND GAZING INTO HEAVEN? THIS SAME JESUS, WHO IS TAKEN FROM YOU WILL COME AGAIN IN LIKE MANNER AS YOU HAVE SEEN HIM GO." Acts 1:11
Whether He sends His angels to carry a man to his eternal reward or whether He fulfills the promise to come again and time shall be no more, the certainty is that each of us will see Him face-to-face.
May all children of men be infinitely aware of their absolute need for salvation. No man is exempt from the need of a SAVIOR. May JESUS, the ONLY SAVIOR, be so real to each person born of woman that laying his life at the feet of the LORD will become his life's most important and precious act, so serving his Risen Redeemer will be his life's most amazing joy.
