...Until You Need It

The ten Boom Family were heroes of WW II. They hid Jews who where being sought and persecuted by the Nazis in a secret room in their home. They knew they risked their own safety, and indeed, the whole family eventually paid a high price for their involvement in helping many innocents to reach safety.

Once, Corrie acknowledged to her father that she was not convinced she could carry out the good work they were doing because she was gripped by fear of persecution.

Her father, a very wise man, said to her, "Corrie, do you remember riding the train to school when you were a little girl? I walked you to the station and then you boarded alone. When did I give you the money for the trip?"

She answered, "As I got on the train."

Father ten Boom replied, "God is just like that. HE will give you the courage you need for every trial you must face, but HE won't give it to you until you need it."

Are you weighted with a burden of concern about the future? We live in a day of anxiety, and indeed, the news we hear, the disappointments we feel regarding our leadership, the threat of terrorism--many concerns, both personal and international--weigh upon us.

We carry a burden of unrest about the direction our country is going and about its hope for the future, as well as what appears to be a rising threat of Armageddon.

But at the point of our worry and fear, our SAVIOR speaks to us, "Peace, be still."  Mark 4:39

JESUS wants HIS people to know that HE hold the future, that nothing can happen tomorrow that HE has not already seen, that nothing can come against those who love and trust HIM that HE does not allow--and that no matter what comes, HE will supply them the courage to face it and the faith to overcome it.

A few simple words anchor Christians to faith that overcomes the world:
"BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD."  Psalm 46:10
