We Pray for Good and Honorable Leaders

LORD JESUS, we pray for good and honorable men to lead our nation; yet we know that YOU have said, "There is none righteous, no not one." The good and honorable for whom we pray are leaders who will humbly bow before YOU, who will place their lives, their will at YOUR feet and allow YOU to guide their steps and to guide their decisions.

Oh, HOLY GOD, we know that of ourselves we cannot please YOU; we cannot approximate the goodness that YOUR holiness requires of us, but we also know that when we place our lives at YOUR feet, they are transformed from the mire of sin to the glory of YOUR righteousness.

That is what we yearn for, PRECIOUS SAVIOR, for leadership that looks to YOU for guidance, and for people who hold their leaders to the highest standard of goodness, for leaders that lean on YOU.

If YOU will, YOU can restore us to the faith that made us strong and free--not because our leaders or our people are worthy, but because our leaders and our people rely wholly upon YOU.

It is in YOUR mighty, matchless Name we pray, JESUS. Amen.
