Americans celebrate CHRISTMAS because the preponderance of them believe in JESUS CHRIST. Oh, no, not everyone believes in HIM in the same way.
Many are 'cultural CHRISTIANS.' They were raised in CHRISTIAN homes by CHRISTIAN people who simply believe that most westerners, including most people in the United States, subscribe to the belief that this culture has been greatly influenced by the CHRISTIAN faith.
Many are deeply and profoundly involved in their belief in and worship of the MAN, CHRIST JESUS. To them, HE is the risen SAVIOR who died to redeem anyone who would believe in HIM from eternal destruction.
Though we might run the gambit of the faith and commitment scale, we
are all celebrants of CHRISTMAS, the holiday that celebrates CHRIST'S
birth.
We do not deny anyone the right to disbelieve, although we would gladly persuade them to believe if we could. Nor do we expect that they should endeavor to deny us our annual celebration of the day in time when GOD, the CREATOR of the universe, clothed HIMSELF in flesh and came to earth to restore us to HIMSELF.
