Integrity

In the early part of the last century, Cole Porter wrote a song that has defined not only his generation but those that have followed. The song's title is, "Anything Goes."

We have become people who are no longer constrained by a profound sense of what is right or wrong ... our only moral boundaries are those we set for ourselves. We have fulfilled the BIBLICAL prophecy that, "Every man does what is right in his own eyes."

What is right in your eyes may keep you from robbery or murder, but does it keep you from cheating on your spouse?

What is right in your eyes may prohibit your participation in a violent overthrow of the government, but does it prevent you from insisting on adopting laws that defy time-honored traditions?

This is certainly a convenient season of life for anyone who would put off the constraints of morality or BIBLICAL law, but the one who does so must recognize that in so doing, he is taking upon himself the shackles of sin.

Anything goes? Not in GOD'S eyes. In GOD'S estimation, "there is nothing new under the sun. The things that are right in HIS eyes have always been right. The things that are sin in HIS eyes have always been sin.

HE has said of HIMSELF, "I am the LORD. I CHANGE NOT."

Indeed, you can slip easily into virtually any transgression and our current society will recognize your justification and your right to do so, but GOD must condemn you, for HE IS HOLY...the only standard, the only righteousness HE can accept is HIS own.

HIS righteous standard is unattainable through our own efforts, for "all have sinned and come short of the glory of GOD," but PRAISE JESUS, HE HAS LIVED THE SINLESS LIFE WE CANNOT LIVE AND HE HAS PAID THE DEATH PENALTY THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN OURS!

When we have accepted the world's fallacious notion that "anything goes," we have pronounced ourselves guilty before our HOLY GOD.

When we have accepted CHRIST'S LIFE, DEATH, AND RESURRECTION in our behalf, we have broken the power of the deceit of the world, we have robbed the evil one of one more sinner to lure into hell, we have proven once again that "though our sins be scarlet, they shall be white as snow."
