Prayer for the Persecuted

The latest atrocity committed against Christians was in Pakistan where a group of worshipers were celebrating Easter in a park. Many of the celebrants were killed and dozens more were injured.

Around the world, believers in CHRIST are paying a high price for their faith.

Let us not become inured to the suffering of our brothers. Let us not allow the news of their persecution wash over us, rather, may we allow it to soak into our hearts and compel us to pray.

LORD JESUS, we lift up Your suffering saints to Your throne. We know You are mindful of their plight for Your Word tells us that a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without Your knowledge.

We ask You to wrap these who are more precious than sparrows in Your protective embrace, to shield them from the forces of evil that would come against them in the workplace, in their homes, in their places of worship.

We ask You to melt the cold hearts that believe they do God a favor when they slay Your people. We ask You to crush hearts of stone and to replace them with hearts of flesh that learn how to love, to learn how to open to the gospel of peace.

Precious SAVIOR, we recognize that events must occur prior to Your return, and we understand that persecution is part of the unfolding of the events of the end times, yet we ask You to stay Your hand, to allow a great sweep of Your Holy Spirit to move across the nations, for we know that it is not Your desire that any perish, but that all come to a knowledge of truth.

We ask that these dead shall not have died in vain, but that You will do that transformative miracle once again where the blood of the martyrs becomes the seeds of the church.

In Your mighty name we pray, JESUS. Amen.
