The Woman at the Well

The woman at the well had been married several times. She was currently living with a man who was not her husband. Though her sins were glaring, she was not averse to extending kindness to a stranger. When JESUS asked her for a drink, she willingly complied with His request.

This simple gesture of kindness opened the door to further conversation, and that discourse led to her salvation.

How often do we have opportunities come our way that will ultimately afford us the chance to share a word of truth with one who is steeped in error? To extend a hand of help to one who is laden with burdens he cannot carry alone? To open a window of blessing through which the Holy One may pour out of salvation upon a sinner who is lost?

What appears to be a chance encounter may in reality be a divine appointment. May we be so in tune with the purposes of the LORD that when those unexpected opportunities come our way we will use them toward the ends that souls be saved and Christ's Kingdom increased.
